Welcome to the Hobart Guitar Society

The Hobart Guitar Society is based in the capital city of Tasmania, Australia's southernmost state, and its membership includes people from around the island with a wide range of guitar-related interests. Visitors and new members are always welcome.  Meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month from 2.00 to 4.00pm at the Sacred Heart Parish Centre, 67 Clare Street, Newtown.

Upcoming Events

Inaugral Launceston College Guitar Summer School

14-15 January 2010

This exciting two-day guitar program will challenge guitarists of all abilities to work in solo and ensemble situations. During the two-day workshop participants will cover ensemble and flamenco playing, as well as masterclasses and workshops. The summer school is being directed by acclaimed Austraian guitarist Gareth Koch.

Around thirty years ago Greg Smallman developed the idea of carbon fibre lattice bracing which has perhaps become synonymous with Australian made classical guitars. Also features John Williams who has played Mr Smallman's guitars since their earliest days.
